WHAT ARE SMOOTHIE BOWLS EXACTLY?
These pretty smoothie bowls are made up of frozen fruit & veggies blended together and topped with wholesome, nutrient-dense ingredients.
Many people also refer to smoothie bowls as nice cream, a healthier and nicer version of ice cream.
Many recipes consist of a base of frozen bananas blended with a smaller portion of other fruits and/or leafy greens. Some recipes use frozen sweet potatoes or other frozen fruits instead of or in addition to the typical frozen banana base.
Things like plant-based milks, nut butters, and yogurt are usually added to give it a smoother, creamier texture.
The bowls are then topped with nutritious things like whole & dried fruit, granola, coconut shavings, nuts and seeds. You can even drizzle them with a little honey or agave for an added bit of sweetness.
People choose smoothie bowls over the more common smoothie drink because they find it more filling and satisfying. Plus, they’re nice to look at, right?
